In East Lansing, MI this morning for business.....why not play a course I hadn't played yet.... Oh, yea.

Found this locally built 18-hole course built in 1962 with four (4) tees stretching from 4,376yds to 6,015yds / Par 36/34 for $30 18/cart and decided to give it a shot. I played the Blues (6,013yd/69.4/121) on this fairly flat layout that has a marsh/pond mix of starting holes on both 9's that add some shot selection on the tee box.

Was told the rough conditions (Clubhouse/course) are because they are in the shutdown mode till the end of the season. I can't believe paying any more than $30 in prime season, but its located in town and that has a certain strong following. The closely mowed fairways are scattered treelined and having yardage sticks located on the edge of the fairways. The starting holes #3 through #5 are in the marsh/pond area and challenge your straight tee shot to stay safe. Greens were on the small typical round side but held and put very true. The few green-side traps I saw were firm with shallow lips and weed free.

#9 445yd Par 4 is the Hcp 1 and that comes from the yardage and OB on the right side.

#10 is a 303yd Par 4 with a creek crossing in front of the green so don't miss short.

#11 158yd Par 3 has a pond tucked up in front of the green so check the wind before you swing.

13 is a 200yd Par 3 having water carry all the way to the green and is ALOT tougher than the Hcp 14 ranking it should play.

#16 545yd Par 5 is just long and narrow that gives it the Hcp 2 ranking. I can see where this was a very popular course through the 1990s but with all the more upscale tracks within 25 minutes of here, warm-up play/senior leagues are its mainstay. I shot 39/37 w/34putts on my 3hr adventure with some courteous foursome's letting me play through to keep pace.

Very good local course for youth/senior play as there are challenges with the shorter yardage you'll face on the longer yardage tracks nearby.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I won't play again, Expensive, but not worth it
